Laker was pleased to take part in a local Employment and Skills Event on Thursday 10th July. The event was a ‘twist’ on the traditional ‘jobs fair’ with local employers having to work their way around the room and pitch their companies and vacancies to the candidates.
The event was organised by The Salvation Army Employment Plus – who deliver DWP Work Programme across the Midlands to people who have been unemployed for 12 months or more. They successfully manage to get over 1000 people back into work in year and Laker were proud to be asked to take part as a local employer who places significant value in our social responsibility.
The event was also attended by local MP James Morris who was keen to talk to candidates and employers and share his experiences as an entrepreneur and business man whilst getting an on the ground feel for the local jobs market.
Laker were extremely impressed with the level of skills and experience of the candidates and hope to be seeing one or two of them for future vacancies.
