Social Enterprise West Midlands are delighted to publish the summary report from the full Social Value in Construction Conference Survey as well as the headline findings
The survey, sponsored by Laker BMS Ltd, was taken on the day of the Conference which took place on the 23rd April: thank you to all who provided their comments and experiences.
We were delighted that one-third of delegates completed the survey.
The aim of the survey was to establish an idea of the sector’s understanding and application of social value. It will also help the sector to understand and develop opportunities for social enterprises in the marketplace.

Laker worked with SEWM to highlight some of the key findings from the survey: interesting points found include…
• Awareness of CSR roles and responsibilities within organisations
• A very positive amount of varied social value delivery being reported, particularly around apprenticeships, skills and training
• An indicator of the percentage of social enterprises currently within construction sector supply chains and the opportunities to open up contracts to enterprises
• The barriers to engaging with social enterprises centres around a lack of knowledge – there is plenty of support from SEWM and key sector organisations who can help!

The survey can help SEWM understand further the opportunities and challenges facing enterprises and the construction sector and how we can help provide support to unlock those opportunities.
