Laker were proud to support the Grange Farm Family Day that took place on July 16th by sponsoring the event. The Grange Farm Resident Steering Group did a fantastic job of bringing the whole community together with the “free” Family Fun Day. The Steering Group have spent the last 3 weeks planning the event in South Harrow, which turned out to be a huge success with over 250 people from all walks of life attending throughout the day.
The Fun Day had trampolines, a bouncy castle, face painting, henna designs, fun fair games and much more. Harrow Radio provided the sounds on the gloriously hot day and live performances came from the “Harrovians”. Councillor Glen Hearnden, Portfolio Holder for Housing helped produce the big banners for the event and said, “the Steering Group’s hard work and determination definitely paid off, and their goal of bringing this community together is being realised”. He was joined by other local councilors.
As the music played, faces were being painted, bikes were being fixed by “Dr Bike”, football challenges (courtesy of Watford FC and Cedars) were taking place and the fun didn’t stop. The London Fire Brigade was also kind enough to drop by and let the youngsters explore the fire engine.
Ken Woods, Chair of the Steering Group said he was “really proud of the community for putting on the event and how they came together to raise the funding for it”. Akshaya, a young student who has lived on the estate all her life said that “It’s the first time I’ve seen the community being brought together and what a great way to do it’. Bill Beardon, Vice Chair of the Steering Group said he was “proud of what we pulled off and will treasure this day for the rest of my life”.
Laker are extremely proud to have been able to play a small part in what was clearly a very successful community focused day.
